Junko Kemi’s journey to create kay me began with her search to find work-suitable clothing that was stylish, comfortable and could be machine washed at home.
In her position as a consultant, Junko traveled within Japan and had trouble finding appropriate clothing that met her needs as a professional, so she used her business skills to create her own brand.
After taking recommendations from a friend, Junko visited a tailor in Osaka who advised her to find a patterner. By the end of that week, Junko had contacted several patterners via social media and had hired the best.
kay me launched its first collection with a private showing in a hotel room in Tokyo. The entire line sold out, and kay me has since continued to organically grow in popularity, offering busy women clothing that works for them.
