Junko Kemi’s journey to create kay me began with her search to find work-suitable clothing that was stylish, comfortable and could be machine washed at home. In her position as a consultant, Junko traveled within Japan and had trouble finding appropriate clothing that met her needs as a professional, so she used her business skills to create her own brand.
After taking recommendations from a friend, Junko visited a tailor in Osaka who advised her to find a patterner - a job Junko didn’t know existed! By the end of that week, Junko had contacted several patterners via social media and had hired the best.
kay me launched its first collection with a private showing in a hotel room in Tokyo - the entire line sold out, and kay me has since continued to organically grow in popularity, offering busy women clothing that works for them.
